Inxpect radar sensors with Teach-In for demanding industrial environments
In demanding industrial environments, such as tunnelling and drilling operations, working conditions are constantly changing. Machines are relocated, structures vibrate and installations are modified, making the configuration of safety systems time-consuming. To address these challenges, Inxpect will soon introduce the S203A-WT and S203A-WLT radar sensors with Teach-In functionality.
New Teach-In functionality
Does the environment around a machine change regularly? The new Teach-In functionality from Inxpect offers a practical solution. With Teach-In, the sensor automatically learns its surroundings. It then automatically determines the distance to the nearest object within the defined learning area. During the learning process, permanently present objects, such as tunnel walls, structural elements or vibrating machine parts, are automatically recognised and incorporated into the configuration of the detection zone. As a result, the environment no longer needs to be configured entirely by hand. This reduces commissioning time and makes it easier to implement machine safety in complex industrial environments. Combined with Inxpect's ruggedised control units, it creates a safety solution specifically developed for demanding industrial applications.
Developed for demanding industrial applications
The new functionality is available for the Inxpect S203A-WT and S203A-WLT radar sensors. Both 60 GHz radar sensors feature a 12° vertical opening angle and support both safeguarding and presence sensing for the protection of machines and work areas. The S203A-WT offers a detection range of up to 5 metres, while the S203A-WLT has a detection range of up to 9 metres. The sensors have been developed for applications such as underground and surface drilling rigs, heavy machinery and protected work zones. Thanks to radar technology, the sensors continue to operate reliably in environments affected by dust, smoke, rain and vibration, conditions commonly found in heavy industry.

Inxpect radar sensors for machine safety
The S203A-WT and S203A-WLT form part of the wider Inxpect machine safety portfolio, consisting of radar sensors, control units and software for a wide range of industrial environments. Depending on the application, various sensor models are available with different detection fields, detection ranges and functionalities. These include sensors with a symmetrical or asymmetrical field of view, radar sensors for corridors or radar sensors with configurable 3D zones (cuboids). This makes it possible to create a safety solution tailored to the specific requirements of a machine or installation. Read more about radar sensors.
Control units for flexible safety solutions
Inxpect radar sensors are combined with dedicated control units that process the signals from one or more sensors and control safety functions. This enables safety functions to be implemented for a wide variety of applications, ranging from individual machines to larger installations with multiple detection zones. By connecting multiple sensors to a single control unit, larger work areas can be monitored and safety zones can be accurately adapted to the application.
Configuration with Inxpect Safety Studio
Inxpect uses Safety Studio software to configure sensors and control units. The software allows detection fields and safety zones to be configured, sensors to be managed and safety solutions to be tailored to the requirements of the installation.
