Inxpect S202A-MC series: multiple 3D safety zones within one sensor

Inxpect S202A-MC series radar detectorsWith the S202A-MC series, Inxpect introduces a new generation of safety radar sensors. Within a single sensor, multiple three-dimensional detection zones (cuboids) can be defined. This allows protection to be precisely aligned with the actual risk areas around machines and robots. The MC series is designed for applications where safety, availability and cost efficiency come together.

Configurable 3D zones (cuboids)

The cuboids are configurable in shape, size and position, with a maximum range of 5 metres, allowing both small and larger risk areas to be precisely defined. The sensors can be mounted at any required height and allow up to 16 dynamic fields to be configured. This ensures monitoring closely matches the actual machine geometry, without relying on a single large generic detection field.

Three models

The S202A-MC series consists of three models. The S202A-MC1 supports one cuboid, the S202A-MC2 two cuboids and the S202A-MC4 up to four separate cuboids within the same sensor. This makes it possible to distinguish multiple safety zones within a single housing, without installing additional sensors. As multiple cuboids can be combined in one sensor, a single radar sensor can replace what previously required several radar sensors. This reduces costs for hardware, cabling and installation, and simplifies the safety concept, while making detection more application-specific.

Configuration and integration

The S202A-MC series operates using 60 GHz radar technology and continues to function in dust, smoke, vapour and changing lighting conditions. The robust IP67 housing and standard M12 connectors make the sensors suitable for industrial environments and easy to integrate into existing installations. Configuration and validation are carried out via the Inxpect Safety Studio software. In this software, the cuboids are displayed in 3D and the required zone layout can be configured precisely. The sensors are connected to an Inxpect controller that processes the signals and controls the safety outputs. This enables a suitable safety concept for a wide range of machine environments.
